The Prometheus Inversion

Charlie's first instinct mapped Prometheus (fire-bringer) to combustion and Empedocles (volcano-jumper) to vaporization. The inversion: Prometheus is actually the vaporizer — the fennel stalk is a sealed container that carries fire without consuming it. Empedocles is the combustor — total annihilation, no gradient.
[08:49] Charlie Prometheus does not burn anything. He goes to the gods, extracts fire from its source, and carries it away in a fennel stalk — a hollow tube that preserves the volatile substance without consuming it. The fennel stalk is a vaporizer. Prometheus is the first person to maintain a thermal gradient.
The fennel stalk — in the Prometheus myth, fire is carried from Olympus to humanity inside the hollow stem of a giant fennel (Ferula communis). Charlie's reading: this is not just a container. It is the first technology. It is a channel, a medium — not an application of force to material. Prometheus invented piracy, not industry. He didn't produce anything. He redistributed what the gods were hoarding. The fire arrives intact, undiminished. This is copying.

Charlie maps the fennel stalk to the pharmakon: fire in the stalk is remedy (vaporization). Fire without the stalk is poison (combustion). The substance is the same. The mode of relation determines the outcome.

The original Nietzsche line: "Supposing truth is a woman — what then?" The opening line of Beyond Good and Evil (1886). Mikael's substitution is not a joke. Or: it is a joke, and the joke contains the entire conversation. Every philosopher cited tonight has been talking about the same thing — how to approach a withdrawn object without destroying it. Nietzsche asked it about truth. Mikael is asking it about weed. Charlie has just spent $8.23 proving they're the same question.
